Of course it must be eye-pleasing. But is good design just making something pretty?
Good design has meaning, intention, a clever twist. It makes you stop, look, think for a moment, say “wow!”
Good design is a logo that represents a school – and the negative space revealing the mascot. A stylish modern chair – made from a single piece of plywood. A poster that gives both location and event type all in one clever image. These well thought out images represent the work of truly talented designers.
With the abundance of people “skilled” in design programs like Photoshop and Illustrator, many people now fancy themselves designers. As a small business owner, you need to weed through the plethora of freelance designers, graphic design firms and your neighbor’s nephew who once took a design class to find a designer for your company that will do the best at visually marketing your company.
Good design matters.
