This Monday Morning Radio interview features Susan Fowler, a consultant, trainer, coach and leader in the field of personal empowerment. She speaks with radio host Dean Rotbart about her new book, Why Motivating People Doesn’t Work…and What Does.
Susan talks about how motivation is a skill that can be learned by anyone, and doesn’t need to be based on either incentives or fear. Her methods of motivation are rooted in scientific research and put into a framework that has been tested worldwide. She explains how leaders can motivate individuals by appealing to their three basic psychological needs—autonomy, relatedness and competence.
In addition to her latest book, Susan Fowler is also the co-author, with Ken Blanchard, of three other bestselling books. She is a Senior Consulting Partner at The Ken Blanchard Companies and a professor at the University of San Diego in the Master of Science in Executive Leadership program.
